ABOUT THE ARTIST

TAYLOR ADAMS

My art consists of intricate line work, bright saturated colors and concepts that explore the relationships between people/creatures and their environments. I am equally influenced by both Franco-Belgian comic book illustrators and Japanese Manga artists. The Franco-Belgian illustrators include Jean Giraud, Claire Wendling, Edgar P. Jacobs, Enki Bilal, and Alfonso Font. My Japanese Manga influences are Miyazaki, Katsuya Terada, Taiyō Matsumoto, and Katsuhiro Otomo. I’m used to strict deadlines, but in a perfect world my workflow is - sketch on bristol, ink with rapidograph or isograph pens, scan the illustration in pieces, photomerge the pieces in photoshop, and color the line art digitally. I’m very accustomed to working with screenprinters so I create with color separations in mind and tailor my palettes to the silkscreen process.
