RALPH NULL
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ralph Null as a Floral Designer is known around the world, as he has been invited to teach, exhibit, and judge many events through out the United States, Europe, Japan and South America. His personal style incorporates the everyday organic materials of the woodlands, roadsides, landscapes and unusual items into his designs. This led to a personal style which became known as ‘Naturalistic Organic Design’ which he shares with students worldwide.
In 2007, he received the AWARD OF DESIGN INFLUENCE by the American Institute of Floral Designers, as only the third person to be so recognized by the international organization. In 1997, he was also awarded the Poetker Award of ENHANCEMENT OF THE AMERICAN AESTHETIC by the Society of American Florist. He has taught at Mississippi State University for 25 years and was the developer of the Retail Floral Design and Management Programs.
In 1992, he retired as a fulltime professor and was named Professor Emeritus.
Although he has had no formal training in painting technique, his understanding of color, design, and the underlying art principles has guided him as he has developed his characteristic style of botanical impression.
The advent of the Pandemic and its isolation was the true beginning of his painting experience. He found peace, tranquility and solace as he became lost in the world of paint. Small scale paintings make up the majority of his work, therefore making his original artwork affordable for any and all.
“I am at the height of my ‘happy place’ when the brush is speaking its language and my hand can follow it as the miracle of a new creation is born.”
