RACHEL DERISE

Rachel Derise is a self-taught artist currently living in Columbus, Mississippi, where she manages Friendly City Books and creates their Hot Possum art collection.

Rachel has loved to draw and create since childhood, and began seriously pursuing an art career in 2019. She primarily works with acrylic paint on new and secondhand canvas. Her pieces aim to blend weird and creepy subject matter with rich, saturated colors. Horror novels and movies are a huge inspiration, as well as her two wild-eyed gremlin cats.

She firmly believes that if an artist has fun creating, that joy comes through in the finished piece. She hopes her work invites viewers to explore the fun to be had in the dark.
