My name Kaliyah Halbert and I am a painter based in beautiful Mississippi. My passion for painting has led me to explore the world of black art, and I am constantly inspired by the rich history and culture of black people. As an artist, I am grateful to have the ability to express my thoughts and emotions through my paintings. Each stroke of my brush is a way for me to share my perspective and connect with others. My art is a reflection of my journey and I hope to inspire others to embrace their own unique stories through my work. Thanks for joining me on this creative adventure.

Artist Statement

This painting, titled “The Flower”, reflects the often-overlooked contributions of African Americans throughout history. The metaphor of “flowers” represents the recognition and appreciation that mans Black individuals have been denied, despite their significant accomplishments. It speaks to the need for timely acknowledgement, celebrating these achievements while those who made them are still here to experience it. Ultimately, it calls for grater visibility and respect for the ongoing impact of African Americans across generations.
