Artist Statement
As a dynamic visual artist, I use acrylic painting, digital art, and large-scale murals to tell stories that honor cultural identity, celebrate strength, and inspire authentic connection. My work is deeply rooted in Afrocentric themes and brought to life through vibrant, bold colors that evoke emotion and pride.
Public art has been a cornerstone of my creative journey, allowing me to transform community spaces into sites of beauty and empowerment. My art seeks to reflect the spirit of the communities I serve.
In my personal collections, I strive to weave narratives that resonate with strength and cultural pride. My favorite collection, “Melanin in Motion,” captures the emotions and diversity of my time as an art teacher, celebrating the faces and stories of my students.
Inspired by the bold storytelling of Kehinde Wiley, the introspective symbolism of Frida Kahlo, and the raw energy of Basquiat, I aim to honor their influence while forging a style that is uniquely my own. Each piece I create is an invitation to celebrate identity, engage with untold stories, and connect with the vibrant tapestry of human experience.
